Quick History

The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog is a result of a biological experiment that took place in the former Czechoslovakian republic in the year 1955-1965. The experiment was led by sir Karel Hartel at the kennel of the border guard in Libejovice. The first successful cross between the female wolf Brita and the male German shepherd Cezar Z Brezovehoj took place in 1958, and on the 26th of May the first litter were born.

This was the first mix of breeds of what we today call the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog, but there has been four more successful x-matings after that. The fifth and the last mix of breeds was made as late as 1983. The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog was recognised national as a breed in Czechoslovakia in 1982, and in 1989 it was recognised by F.C.I as a international breed on a conference in Helsinki Finland.
