Work

The Cs Wolfdog is the perfect working dog as it has the strength and size to be a protecting dog as well as the senses and flexibility to be one of the best rescue dogs. It also has a long life span, good health and high intelligence.

The thick coat protects from both hot and cold climates and enables the Wolfdog to work in all kinds of climates, from cold winter to hot desert. The wolfdog is also a good swimmer and is therefore suitable for rescue missions in water.

Because of its all around qualities the Wolfdog has been admired and used through the years by many different working groups and rescue teams. But the very strong socialisation of the Wolfdog makes it hard to change owner/leader and the Wolfdog is therefore not commonly used by military or firebrigade any longer.

The Wolfdog can be used as a cattle dog, sheep dog, sled dog or hunting dog but there are probably better breeds to choose for specialisation within these fields. If you wont a guarding dog it is better to choose another breed as the Wolfdog tends to like new people to much, although it can be trained to be a good guarding dog too if you are willing to put in the extra hours of work with it.

The Wolfdog likes to work hard, but easily looses interest during training if you repeat the same exercise over and over again. It is therefore important to plan a varied training, although the training should be ended with an exercise that your wolfdog knows to create a happy and playful ending of the training. If an owner can get its Wolfdog to love training there are no limits for what can be achieved.
